Musical Director: Elaine Tangye
Accompanist: Michael Uren
The Choir was formed in 1950 by twelve members, including David Laity, who still sings with the choir today. Based at Flushing near Falmouth (ancient Cornish name: Nankersey) the Choir is flourishing under the musicianship of Elaine Tangye (who has led combined Cornish choirs on two Australasian tours and to Eastern Canada last year) and Michael Uren.
The Nankersey Choir’s activities have raised many thousands of pounds for charities and projects in Cornwall, England, Wales and Jersey. History highlights include Songs of Praise, Highway, Hampton Court Flower Show, Royal Albert Hall (with massed Cornish Choirs), and several Cornwall International Festivals.
The Choir remains true to its motto To Sing For and Give Pleasure, which is also the title of its latest CD.
The Choir continues to grow and new members are always welcome. For more information visit: www. nankerseychoir.org / 01326 373984 (Secretary)
