The Navy Larks are delighted to be invited back to the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival for a fourth year in a row.
We are a motley collection of about twenty stout-hearted (and stout-bellied) men from Salisbury who like nothing better than to get together and sing Shanties and Songs of the Sea, always provided there is some beer close to hand. In these endeavours we are guided by our Director of Music, Kate Edgar.
Our repertoire includes shanties and forebitters, sea songs both old and new, and a sprinkling of our own compositions, served up with humour and a good deal of irreverence. Our singing could be described as lively and enthusiastic, and we frequently remember all the words.
In recent years the Navy Larks have performed at numerous fund raising events in and around our home port of Salisbury, helping to raise many thousands of pounds for a number of charities, primarily the Parkinson’s Disease Society and the RNLI. We look forward to returning to Falmouth to meet old friends and to make new ones. We really enjoy singing for you, and we very much hope you will have a great time listening to us and joining in.
